Leicester College YouTube Channel Project - Presentation

Image
Anton and I worked together to create the Powerpoint for presenting to our lecturers and Wajeeda, the client from Leicester College, in which we would be formally assessed. We met early the morning before we were due to present in order to practice and check timing. I created auto-cue cards to help keep us on track, and we recorded ourselves and timed it to make sure we kept within the allotted time limit. The presentation went really well and we we were both very nervous but performed really well together. As a result we were invited to attend a marketing meeting with the whole of the Leicester College Marketing team and show our presentation and films to them. It was great to receive such positive feedback from the team.

Leicester College Intro Sting

After working on on the Leicester College interview filming project, I was looking forward to creating something less structured and more visually appealing. I researched some fantastic stings by other companies such as E4 and MTV Music Channels which gave me some ideas on using different techniques such as multi-framing and used mixed mediums such as video and illustration, as well as special after effects like glitches and colour overlays. Unfortunately it took me much longer to learn the basic steps in using After Effects, compared to Premiere Pro, and this meant that i didn’t have enough time to create a sting from scratch, and instead I opted to use a pre-built template that i could add in my footage and make changes to colours and add in text. Because Leicester College campuses are based around the centre of Leicester City I wanted to create an urban style film that incorporated footage of the college as well as footage of Leicester city centre. I added in bright pla...

Leicester College Interview Videos

Anton and I shared out the footage we had both captured across two cameras and discussed who would work on which projects during the post production (editing stage). I was keen to have a go at the interviews and create a promotional sting, whilst Anton wanted to work on more creative aspects such as a film capturing the light beams, as well as a promo sting. I found some great Premiere Pro tutorials on YouTube to help me understand the dynamics of creating an interview film: https://youtu.be/lxlFwIqwHCM It talks through how to tidy up the footage, and get rid of the questions, and other redundant material, so that I have only the concise interview answers left. The next stage was to import b-roll clips that help to create depth and understanding of the discussion. The b-roll footage needs to match what the interviewees are talking about. B-roll is also great to establish the scene quickly, and i used footage of the outside of the college building at the beginning of the films...

Leicester College YouTube Channel Project - The Shoot

Image
We had an awesome time filming footage for the films we planned to create. The highlight of the day was interviewing our lecturers, who gave us some great comedy moments, that really humanised the college’s identity. The filming days were long and hard work; we managed to visit 2 campuses, and captured footage of communal areas such as the cafeteria, library, and common areas, as well as classroom footage in the Graphics, Music, Fashion and Footwear, and Dance departments. We also managed to capture footage of the Open Day and experience going on the roof of the Abbey Park Campus to see the College light beam in action.
