SEO Visability

Image
Search engine optimisation, or SEO, is the process of increasing awareness and traffic to my business website, by making it appear among the top search results on search engines like Google, Bing! and Yahoo. While social media, email, banner ads and other marketing tools generate website visits, SEO visibility is particularly important because search engines are the primary way users navigate the Internet. It automatically increases my audience in a relevant, targeted way – they self-identify as someone who wants, or at least is interested in, my product or service. Search engine algorithms not only rate the relevance of your keywords on my website pages, and in the meta data, but they also evaluate information such as the duration visitors stay on your site, so getting users to stay on the site and interact with content can boost SEO ranking. Things that affect SEO include the following: • Keywords on pages • Keywords in meta data • Relevant content • Header tags...

Instagram for Small Businesses

Image
Instagram is a great visual platform which is used by 700 Million+ people worldwide per month. I have learned that it can be used as an effective business tool to connect with customers as around 80% of users following business accounts on instagram. It will allow me to drive awareness to my brand services, as well as helping me to broaden my reach and frequency, which in turn will increase traffic to my website, and sales. I can add profile information about my business as well as links and call to actions such as ‘get in touch’ buttons. Instagram is owned by Facebook and has the same advertising tools, so I can set up ads and campaigns in the same way as Facebook. I can also access insights similarly to Facebook and analyse numbers of impressions, reach, website link clicks, follower activity, video views, and post saves. I have learned about different types of posts which include photo adverts, which i can add filters to, to create interesting effects. Another type of p...

Facebook for Small Businesses

Image
Facebook has over 1.86 billion active users which is great for freelancers and small businesses like myself, because it offers a low cost way of connecting with potential clients and building brand relationships. I have learnt that a good profile page can help to market directly to customers that are most interested in my products and services, and connect with them in an authentic way. These include posting comments, updates, call to actions, images and videos. The latest feature that Facebook has added is Live Video. Users love to watch live videos because they are interactive and allow users to respond and comment. I can view all incoming comments and respond to them live as the video is being broadcasted. As users watch, the live video shows up in their newsfeed. This means that friends of those users can also see the live feed, thus widening the pool of potential viewers. I have learnt that adding a call to action at the end of the live stream can help to direct users t...

YouTube for Small Businesses

Image
I have learnt how well video can be used as a tool for developing a brand story. YouTube is a great platform for promoting both short and longer videos. It has the ability to live-stream events, create a playlist of videos, and lets users like and subscribe to your YouTube channel. Like many other social media platforms, YouTube allows you to access analytics for your video posts. These include learning about my audience demographics, playback locations, traffic sources, audience retention, and what devices they are using to watch from. I have learnt about different types of videos and how they can help boost both the brand and customer followings: Vlogs - gives me a chance to offer my personal opinions and thoughts to my subscribers, in a relaxed setting. This is a great tool to increase interactions and engagement and costs very little to create. Interviews - are ideal to help inject authority by interviewing peers in my industry. This builds credibility by brand associa...

Snapchat for Small Businesses

Image
Snapchat is one of the fastest-growing social networks, and has around 100 million daily active users. The majority of uses fall into a younger audience so this is a great tool for me to engage with new SMEs that have younger staff members and founders. I can use Snapchat to create daily stories that engage and excite users. Stories only last for 24 hours and are made from a string of snaps used to create a video narrative. I can add filters, geo-filters, emojis, text, and music, to create a more powerful and unique experience for my audiences. I can also offer promo codes and discount vouchers to my fan followers. Real-time social media campaigns gives my audience access to live events in a more authentic way, inviting them to feel like they are participating in something special. These types of marketing will help me to boost my brand’s personality through two-way conversations, and also increase customer loyalty and capture user generated content.

Twitter for Small Businesses

Image
Twitter is an online social media platform that encourages connections through users shared likes and opinions, in a concise post of 160 characters. I can also add images, and videos as well as links to other articles and blogs, or my website. Twitter can help me to connect with other users in my industry as well as potential customers who are active on Twitter, by posting relevant content and encouraging conversations, retweets and shares. These conversations will help me to develop strong brand awareness. I can increase engagement levels by using Twitter Ads which allow targeted advertising and extends tweet reach. I plan to incorporate hashtags to make my posts more searchable by tagging posts with relevant phrases, and also use mentions using the @ symbol which will allow me to target a response to particular users as well as sharing with my followers. Many users use Twitter to publicly voice concerns about issues they are having with businesses, so it is important t...

LinkedIn for Small Businesses

Image
LinkedIn is a great business tool for connecting with individuals in a more business focused setting, and is particularly good at connecting B2B (business to business) companies. According to the 2015 Social Media Marketing Industry report, LinkedIn has surpassed Facebook as the #1 most important social platform for B2B marketers. Over 62% of business owners use the platform. After research on LinkedIn, I believe it offers a much more professional business approach compared to other social media platforms, and will be the perfect platform for me to establish thought leadership in my business enterprise, and increase trust and reputation in the process. Unlike Facebook, LinkedIn has no filtered feed, so when I post an update on my LinkedIn company page, it appears in my followers’ feeds, regardless of how often they have interacted with my posts in the past. Having a properly optimised LinkedIn profile and company page will also help to increase my chances of ranking in Google s...
